Annual General Meeting, 14th July 2021

Last Wednesday, the Trust held our Annual General Meeting via Zoom. There were 36 people in attendance, including ward councillors, local residents, traders and business owners, members of Save Latin Village, the Seven Sisters Market Tenants Association, and the Wards Corner Coalition, volunteers (past and present), and other supporters.

You can download the Annual Report that was presented during the AGM here. This report summarises the Trust’s activities between 1st August 2020, and 31st July 2021, and details the Trust’s four main projects: the community plan, the development of the Seven Sisters Market Tenants Association, the temporary market, and the community resource hub.

The Annual Report also underscores the Trust’s priorities for the coming year. One of these that the Trust would particularly like to highlight is the development of the Wards Corner Community Benefit Society (CBS), which will restore and manage the Wards Corner building. To aid in developing this, we were successful in an application to receive support from the Mayor of London and CoopsUK through their Boosting Community Business programme, and have been working with CoopsUK support provider Cooperative and Mutual Solutions (CMS). As part of this support, over the next few months CMS will be facilitating workshops with key beneficiary communities and stakeholders. Keep an eye out for further announcements regarding this, and opportunities to get involved and help shape the Wards Corner CBS.

We’d like to thank those who came along to listen to our trustees present the Annual Report. It was amazing to be able to update everyone on the exciting progress the Trust has made over the past year, particularly those who have been with us since the very start. This was then followed by an hour of discussion, in which people asked questions of the Trust, sharing their own perspectives, insights, and knowledge.
